Hotel Chair, Travis W.: Happy New Year SMICYPAA. Not much new to report with the Hotel / Facilities Committee. My Co-Chair and I are looking to start setting up some meetings with our hotel contacts in the next month. I have also been in contact with the Visitor’s Bureau and will probably be meeting with her soon to show her some of our previous bid books. I am also, while talking to the hotel contacts, going to be discussing more possibilities regarding the mini conference we’ve been discussing. I’m looking forward to more developments in the upcoming month.
Group Communications Chair, Mike P.: Greetings in 2007, I hope everyone had a nice holiday season. Important activities since last meeting include: Information was gathered regarding holding the mini conference a the University of Missouri-St Louis Millenium Center. More details will be given later in New business. Also, I’ve been contacted multiple times about young people’s meetings. I’ve suggested appropriate meetings for those people. Goals for this month include: attend and participate and bring flyers to the Area 38 Assembly on January 20th.
Outreach Chair, Ian S.: Happy to report that there is much Outreach activity
to report. In late December, I spoke with Al Robinson, Jr., head of Bridgeway
Counseling Services (with multiple treatment center locations); he said
to send him what we have (flyers, etc.) an he’ll take a look at it.
I also had an interesting conversation with Richard Bauer, the Missouri
State Alanon Alt. Delegate, last month. It turns out that, in addition to
being the Alt. Delegate, he also serves as Alanon’s Liaison with the
State Convention Committee. I explained how SMICYPAA proposed to become
involved with Alanon. Somewhat surprisingly, Richard said he wasn’t
sure if it would be ok with the other Alanon officers for a SMICYPAA Member/liaison
to attend the business meetings and/or make announcements. He is going to
check with the other officers and get a consensus, and then contact me back.
I haven’t heard from him yet, but will follow up next week or so.
As soon as I get more info, and the verbal go-ahead from Richard, I’ll
be appointing a Family Groups Subcommittee Chair, and start him/her working.
I’m still working with the Committee’s Treatment Center Subcommittee
Chairs to compile a near-exhaustive list of treatment centers in Missouri,
and we still hope to have the list in final form for a mail-out of our events
flyers to all our treatment center contact people this month—hopefully
a week or so prior to our February Trivia Night event. Speaking of treatment
centers, I spoke with Bryan Q., a member of our fellowship who works with
Preferred Family Healthcare. He said they have about 24 inpatient clients,
and the Center would be interested in sending them to our events. He said
SMICYPAA had previously made a contact with the Center, but things didn’t
work out, for some reason. He said we could send flyers to the Center, so
I’ve added the address to our list. In addition, regarding treatment
centers, you may still contact Jeff G. who chairs the AA newcomer’s
meeting at the Comtrea Facility on SMICYPAA’s behalf every other Wednesday
at 4pm at that treatment center located in Arnold, MO—he’s always
looking for speakers. The Committee’s Missouri State Convention Liaison
will be attending the quarterly state convention meeting in Jefferson City
tomorrow, so hopefully we’ll grasp roots in that “big-people’s
AA” conference structure. The Committee hopes to have an Outreach
event in March in either Springfield or Columbia, MO. Finally, I’m
still working with other members of the Mini-Conference Ad Hoc Committee
to plan and put-on the SMICYPAA Mini-Conference, tentatively planned for
May 26-27, 2007 (Memorial Day Weekend). More to report on that front next
month.
Events Chair, Ben M.: Trivia Event date is TBA, Flyers have been made. He
will be setting up an events meeting in the next couple of weeks. He will
get copies made and sent out.
Merchandising Chair, Adam W.: Not present, no report.
Bid Book Chair: No chair for this position.
Old Business:
Open positions: Merchandise Co Chair, Bid Book Chair/Co Chair, Group Communications Co Chair, Treasurer, and Webmaster. Sean explained the open positions.

Bid Book Co Chair: Vanessa by acclamation upon motion by Ben.
New Business:
Mini Conference: The committee needs to get items settled and bring back to the business meeting. Ian mentioned if no new information/proposal by the next meeting in regards to the Mini Conference then cancel the idea for this year.
Mike explained that it is time to elect a new BCR. He relayed that this decision needed to be made at the next business meeting. Mike explained what a BCR is.
General Sharing: None.
Next meeting is February 03, 2007.
Meeting closed at 5:10 pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
Maggie T.
